With many businesses returning to the office, what is one simple thing a leader can do to support their team's health and wellness in the workplace this year?

Coming back into the office means many will be adding back commute times which could have been used for health and wellness. Research tells us that more time off is the best way to avoid burnout, sabbaticals being at the top of that list. More and more companies are offering long-term time off which helps people come back to work refreshed, showing gratitude, and performing at very high levels.

If a client of yours can't stop overthinking, how would you help them learn to recenter themselves?

I frequently use human-centered design thinking methods in my coaching sessions with my clients. Oftentimes, when my clients are overthinking, we use a whiteboarding tool to get the data points down and begin to look at important key themes and insights. By sticking to the facts, it helps guide my clients in an objective way, gives clarity, and gets them out of their emotional state of thinking.

What is the go-to question you use most often to kick off a coaching engagement with a new client, and why do you rely on this one so much?

I take a human-centered approach when working with any new client. I always ask new clients to fill out a short questionnaire prior to our first session which asks a few pointed questions about the challenges they are facing. We use these answers as a way to start setting goals and puts their needs at the forefront of every session.

successful. Why is this such a critical aspect?

One key component that needs to be in place for team-building activities to be successful is an inclusive culture. This culture must be transparent and elicit feedback of team members on a regular basis. Using human-centered thinking methods and whiteboarding tools like Mural, seeking feedback and gaining alignment is a breeze.
